RE: PLANS UNDERWAY FOR THE 2021 HIFL SEASON
We trust that you and yours are safe and well. Our thoughts and prayers remain with those who have been affected by the pandemic.
Having announced the suspension of the League in April as a preventive measure due to COVID-19, we pioneered a series of value-driven, interactive initiatives to further consolidate the strides that we have recorded in Nigeria’s collegiate sports.
With the support of our key sponsor, Stanbic IBTC, we pioneered the HiFL e-Invitational – a virtual collegiate football tournament, HiFL MasterClass Series – virtual workshops across the sports spectrum and the International Day of University Sport #PlaySafe celebration to reward collegiate sports stakeholders.
After a series of consultations with our partner, the Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA), sponsors and other stakeholders, we have come to the decision to begin preparations for the 2021 season in place of the 2020 season. This was necessitated by timing as we inch closer to the end of the year. While this was not the resolution we hoped to have, our focus remains the well-being of our players, fans, and stakeholders across board.
During the coming weeks, we will make announcements concerning the new season. We are optimistic about returning to the field soon due to the developments observed both locally and internationally.
We remain grateful to our sponsors, partners, and other stakeholders for their support and resolution in keeping the vision of a globally-competitive collegiate sports system alive. We also enjoin everyone to keep following the guidance of all relevant health authorities.
We cannot wait to see everyone soon.
Only our sincere wishes,
Chief Operating Officer
